Change XAMPP default user

For Mac version of XAMPP, the default user is “nobody”

To change the default user to the mac user you are logging in, you need to use “sudo” command to edit XAMPP configuration file.

If you are using normal text editor to edit the configuration file, you will get permission denied error.

Follow commands below:

In Terminal, type in command below to start edit the file.

sudo nano -w +114 /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/etc/httpd.conf

Look for “User nobody”.

Change “nobody” to your user id.

Example: “User loginuser”.

Save it by key in ^O.

That all and you will have mac user running your XAMPP.

With this default user matched to your Mac user, you also solve the permission problem occurred when upgrade WordPress.
